HOLY LAND : Outline Itinerary
FRIDAY, 5TH OCTOBER:
Flight ex Dublin via Istanbul to Tel Aviv arriving at 21.50 hrs. On arrival into Tel Aviv you will be met by your local guide who will assist with all airport formalities. Coach transfer to St. Gabriel’s Hotel Bethlehem for light refreshments and overnight.
SATURDAY, 6TH OCTOBER:
Breakfast in Hotel. We will have a late morning start to our day. After breakfast we will start our Pilgrimage in Bethlehem, visiting Nativity Basilica, Grotto (where Jesus was born), St. Joseph’s and St. Jerome’s Grottos, St. Catherine’s, the lovely Milk Grotto. Tradition tells us it is from here the flight into Egypt took place. In the afternoon, we will visit the Shepherd’s Field, where the angels sang their great hymn of glory on the first Christmas night. Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight.
SUNDAY, 7TH OCTOBER:
Breakfast at Hotel. After breakfast depart hotel for the Old City of Jerusalem. We go to the Lion’s Gate, where we make the Stations of the Cross in the footsteps of Christ along the Via Dolorosa. First we visit St. Anne’s Church on the site of the home of Joachim and Anne and where Our Lady was born. Here also is the Pool of Bethesda. We continue to the Lithostrotos (Pilate’s Court) and on to the Flagellation and Condemnation Chapels for the first Station, finishing with the last station in the Holy Sepulchre Basilica. Visit Mount Calvary and tour Basilica including the Holy Tomb, where the Body of Jesus lay until His glorious resurrection. Passing by Cardo Maximus we continue to the Wailing Wall and the Temple Area, and viewing the Dome of the Rock. Visit to Mount Zion and visit the Upper Room and Dormition Abbey. Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight.
MONDAY, 8TH OCTOBER:
After breakfast we depart for Ein Karem. Visit the shrine of the Visitation and St. John the Baptist’s Birthplace. Returning to our coach we drive to the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the Old City of Jerusalem. Visit Dominus Flevit (built in the shape of a tear drop to commemorate Jesus weeping over Jerusalem). Visit the Garden of Gethsemane and All Nations Church. We now visit Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu – Christ’s prison on the night of His arrest – this experience will give you a greater understanding of the passion of Jesus. Outside are the original steps Jesus walked up on the first Holy Thursday. Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight.
TUESDAY, 9TH OCTOBER:
Breakfast at Hotel. Today we leave Bethlehem and enter the Judean desert, travelling northwards to Tiberias. We begin our journey with a visit to Bethany, where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Passing the Good Samaritan Inn we descent to Jericho, the oldest inhabited City in the World, viewing the Sycamore tree of Zaccheus and on to the Mount of Temptation where Jesus was tempted by Satan. Proceed to Kalia Beach where you will have time to bathe in the waters of the Dead Sea or just relax in the sun (entrance fee of approx. €7 payable for use of changing facilities). Proceed along Jordan Valley to the Caesar Hotel Tiberias for dinner and overnight.
WEDNESDAY, 10TH OCTOBER:
Breakfast in Hotel.
After breakfast we depart for Sea of Galilee and boat crossing in a reproduction boat from the time of Jesus. Drive to Caphernaum – tour of city of Jesus – centre of his Messianic work. Visit the Church built on the site of St. Peter’s House and the Old Synagogue. Continue to St. Peter’s Primacy, a small unforgettable place where after the Resurrection, Christ made Peter the first Pope. We then visit Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount and the Church commemorating the Multiplication of the loaves and fishes. We then drive to River Jordan for renewal of our Baptismal Vows. Return to Tiberias Hotel for dinner and overnight.
THURSDAY, 11TH OCTOBER:
Breakfast in Hotel. Drive to Mount Tabor for Mass of the Transfiguration (taxis up mountain). Proceed to Nazareth and visit Annunciation Basilica and tour Upper Basilica. Visit St. Joseph’s Church (where the Holy Family lived), Synagogue of Jesus (where He read the prophesy of Isaiah), Mary’s Well (church of St. Gabriel) – here the Holy Family drew their water and finally we drive to Cana for renewal of our vows (each person has a part in this ceremony whether they are married, single, widow, widower or religious). Afterwards we return to Tiberias Hotel for dinner and overnight.
FRIDAY, 12TH OCTOBER:
Breakfast in Hotel.
This is a free day in Tiberias for optional activities. Dinner and overnight in Hotel.
SATURDAY, 13TH OCTOBER:
Early morning departure, therefore, breakfast boxes will be provided.
Transfer to Tel Aviv Airport for flight to Dublin via Istanbul. Arrival time into Dublin Airport is approximately 14.35 hrs.

HOTELS - Hotels in the Holy Land are free to give themselves which every star rating they choose and thus can be very misleading to pilgrims. We have chosen two extremely good hotels which would be equivalent to superior 4* by Irish hotel standards.
HOTELS - The Hotels we have included in our programme are St. Gabriel’s Hotel in Bethlehem and the Caesar Hotel in Tiberias.
